Chapter Three- Portfolio

"So you want some proof, eh?" said the designer. "Take a look at these and tell me the work you need can't be designed right here."

The new client nodded her head, "they said you were good, that you can adapt different styles depending what is required... and wanted. I suppose the big questions are how long does it take, what do you need to get started and how much is it going to cost?"

Walking across the room to turn flip the switch on the Mr. Coffee-maker, the designer spoke matter-of-factly, "I don't miss deadlines. Typically I ask for two or three days depending on the project. To get started I need all the information you have - from theme, text and logos to size of the piece to who you want to print it - if you care. If it's an advertisement, contact information for the publisher and a spec sheet is mandatory."

"As for cost, I like to quote a price as opposed to working hourly. It probably costs me money but it helps make me affordable. I like to say that with my background, clients have the luxury of getting a Cadillac for the price of a Yugo," laughed the artist.

"Ultimately, it's the client's choice. I've never had a client disappointed. You can bank on that."
